The Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD) opened in August 2015 and is a candidate school for all three academic International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes with the goal of becoming an IB continuum school. We seek to inspire students beyond the classroom to become lifelong learners and global citizens of the 21st Century by developing their talents in a multilingual environment.

The school currently serves 270 students up to Grade 6. From August 2016, the Middle School will open and will comprise grades 6 to 9 in the first instance. Student numbers will eventually rise to a targeted total of about 2200, of whom 300 will be boarding. Our generous, state-of-the art campus with significant sports facilities is located in Dubai Healthcare City.

Job Scope: The Head of Digital Education and Assessment (HoDEaA) will work in collaboration with the teachers, curriculum leaders and the school leadership team to drive the integration of technology into classrooms across the school.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Education
• Work alongside teachers to enhance the integration of ICT into their classrooms
• Provide professional development to teachers on the integration of ICT into teaching and learning
• Lead whole-school ICT curriculum development
• Assist teachers to enhance the engagement with the parent community through technology (e.g. blogs, Edmodo, etc.)
• Develop school policies related to technology
• Promote of ICT programs at the school (e.g. speaking at conferences)
• Conduct data collection related to the quantity and quality of technology use in the school (to enhance current reporting)
• Provide parent-training sessions on a range of ICT topics
• Work with the school’s IT department to ensure ICT systems are fully utilized in classrooms
• Plan, develop, communicate, implement and evaluate the school’s technology vision for the high-quality and integrated use of technology in learning and teaching

Assessment and Reporting
In collaboration with the teachers, curriculum leaders and the school leadership team, the HoDEaA will help guide the following aspects of assessment:
• Responsible for the effective running of the assessment systems
• Provide and analyse data for internal and external reports
• Monitor and guide the system of tracking pupil progress against their learning targets
• Ensure that evaluative data is used appropriately and effectively in all grade levels and departments
• Ensure that assessment informs planning and that data is used effectively when planning for intervention and support for all groups of learners
• Ensure the moderation of assessments and data for consistency in teaching and learning
• Be responsible for the collation and monitoring of pupils’ progress across
• Be responsible for the organization and implementation of standardized assessments
• Train teaching staff to effectively use academic data to improve pupil academic performance
• Review and compare external standardized assessment data with internal assessment data to ensure consistency between the two systems
• Analyse relevant data to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies aimed at improving academic performance
• Guide teachers in the use of formative assessment, including assessment for learning and personalized learning
• Liaise with all staff to ensure a consistent approach to assessment throughout the school

Position Requirements
Education University teaching degree

MUST HAVE SKILLS:  Native English, French or German speaker, Proficiency in a second language such as English, French, German and/or Arabic preferred, IB experienced

Experience: 2 years leadership experience in an IB School, preferably with similar role, Successful international experience in teaching and leadership,

Salary & Benefits: The salary and benefits package is competitive, will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate and is in line with UAE Labor Law.
